Welcome. "Us" is an indie programmer who needed a tool to track his money. The reality is that I was getting older and wanted to know if my money would last through my upcoming retirement as a Software Engineering Manager and Developer.
So I built a spreadsheet in Excel. It contained all my incomes and expenses down to the last bill and expendature. It did a fairly good job, but it wasn't quite good enough for what I wanted.
And thus, LifeCycle was born. I tried all the big boy toys, you know the money apps that could fly you to the moon and back. And they were good for what they did, but the reality is that the big boys want your data to share with other big boys. They want to advertise to you and sell you a product -- so even the free apps will make money off of you if you bite. And I have no issue with the business model -- it just isn't for me.
So I created LifeCycle to simply track my money flow and to calculate what my future would look like under the conditions presented. Slowly, features were added in, presentation moved around, and here we are: an app that is not tied to any bank, to any financial institution, to any "big boy" who only wants your information to sell you something else.
This is an app that will help you track your income and expenses, and will project over time what that will look like 5, 10, 25 years or more from now. And it is all done privately on your iPhone or iPad, using your private iCloud storage for data (so you won't lose it all if your device breaks). It is all yours, all shared with nobody, and there to give you a little peace of mind that you are on the right track.
